The UK Drone Register is a project I have built to allow the general public an opportunity to return downed aircraft to pilots.

This can be done by entering a unique code into the website, or scanning a QR code found on the aircraft.

These codes are generated automatically by the website when a pilot registers their aircraft, and stickers can either be purchased directly from me or made manually by yourself using the information provided.

Once a notification is sent by the finder, the pilot receives a Text Message (SMS) and an e-mail with a location of the aircraft, and optionally the name and telephone of the finder so that they can get in touch for further assistance.

I built this tool because currently there is no way for a finder to return an aircraft to a pilot, and invariable the hardware ends up on ebay for a fraction of its real cost.

Since most people are honest, this tool gives them the opportunity to do the right thing because currently they are at a dead-end with the only option being to either hand the aircraft in to the police, or put up "found" posters - this way they can get in touch directly with the pilot and reunite them with their gear.
